"Lynac" Split Barrel Sampler (above)

"Lynac" Style Split Barrel Samplers – are available from USExploration Equipment Company.  The premier geotech sampler assembly consists of a shoe, split barrel & head.  The 2-inch (50.8mm) outside diameter recovers a sample that is 1-1/2-inch (38.1mm) outside diameter x 24-inches (609.6mm) long.  The sampler head is the top of the assembly & can easily connect to either W-Design or J-Series drill rod.  The heat treated shoe comes in either a sharp (ASTM) or blunt (Terzaghi) configuration & can be threaded to the bottom of the split barrel with a 4-TPI (coarse) or 8-TPI (fine) coupling.  When ordering an assembly, match your desired drill rod connection & thread type that works best in your geology. “California” Style Split Barrel Samplers – are available from USExploration Equipment Company.  This unique design utilizes a Waste (Slough) Barrel between the top of the Split Barrel & below the (Back) Head (Sub) Assembly, allowing the user to get a more representative sample, after discarding the first six inches.  The thin-wall design lends itself to using Brass (Ring style) Liners or Clear Plastic, should that also be required.  Our preferred assembly is supplied with coarse (4-TPI) threads on the Shoe, Split Barrel, Waste Barrel & Head, so this innovative sampling tool does well in the field in all kinds of overburden applications.  Simply match your desired outside diameter, with the required sample length & drill rod connection when ordering…   Back to Top            PDF

Complete Pitcher Barrel Style Sampler Assembly with 3-inch (76.2mm) Tube

“Pitcher Barrel” Samplers – are available from USExploration Equipment Company.  This unique design combines a thin-walled tube (protruding out the bottom face) with the ability for over-coring (see cutter teeth near the tube bottom). The tube is on a spring-loaded mechanism that will compress if hard soils are encountered. The tube stays extended in soft soils, but is pushed back into the cutter barrel in hard soils. In difficult soils, the cutter advances the hole and the tube is protected against buckling  The Picher Barrel Sampler is designed specifically to recover accurate samples from formations that are too hard for thin-wall “Shelby Tube” samplers or too brittle, soft or water-sensitive to permit satisfactory recovery by conventional core barrel type samplers.  Back to Top            PDF
